Here’s the way it’s gonna go down:
Sarah Renfro 9:30pm
Tony Scherr 10:30pm

Caffe Vivaldi‘s owner Ishrat Ansari, has done the booking himself for 27 years and works hard to make sure the candlelit piano bar to stays true to the old West Village. Not this new Marc by Marc Jacobs, Juicy Couture bile pile.
Tony celebrated a birthday this week. Come bring him cake and candles and candy and buy his records. The thing about Tony is, you probably have multiple records that he’s on even if you don’t know it. He’s a member of Bill Frissell’s group, Sex Mob and has played with assloads of people, i.e. Willie Nelson, Feist, Ani DiFranco, Norah Jones, Chris Brown & Kate Fenner of Broken Social Scene and obscene amounts of other musicians that would make your jaw drop. So come hear his intimate set of originals shared with Michelle Casillas of Ursa Minor who share a chemistry onstage and off that will make you want to buy flowers for strangers.
So, let’s go over this again…

Once owned by Gene Autry, The Kessler Theater has had it’s share of disaster, i.e. tornado, fire, neglect… It went from being a hub of culture in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas to a textile factory, a revival tabernacle and an empty art deco shack of disrepair. Current owner, Edwin Cabaniss, and Jeff Liles have renovated and reopened a lost Dallas landmark and filled it with the music an iconic venue deserves.
Doors open at 7:00pm tonight for an evening of music by Luna Matto of the Polyphonic Spree, Young and Brave from Denton, TX and yours truly headlining. Don’t miss this one!

I had a great time playing at Annie Street Arts Collective on Thursday night. It was a lovely, laid back way to kick off a tour. Yesterday, involved acquiring a big bag of Ruta Maya coffee to bring back to Brooklyn, strolling through the shops of South Congress, eating a fried avocado cone and a big mango fro-yo smoothie.

Ohmygodyes.
This should give you an idea of the bliss and leisure that was my trip to Austin.

My little friend.
This is The Loom. They’re kind of a big deal. I’m really excited to be the brand spankin newest member of the band. After playing 8 shows at SXSW, they have new management, an album on the way and shows coming up all over the place. Their last show was an amazing set at Bowery Ballroom. My first show with them is June 18th at Littlefield in Brooklyn opening for Damien Jurado. Did I mention I’m excited?
Yesterday, Paste Magazine featured The Loom as “The Best of What’s Next.”
